Try These Seven Wines For A Seven Fishes Feast
We have a tradition of cooking lobster on Christmas Eve. It started a long time ago, when my father changed a Ford Fiero to a lobster he offered to deliver six in December. 24. We usually add a few other fish, but I've never had a classic Seven fish party. However, it is on my wish list. In the meantime, I'm inspired by two of my favorite local food vendors, Fish and the Modern Butcher, who collaborated on creating a fish board with seven options, perfect for an intimate Christmas Eve. It is also not too late, anyone could replicate it at the last minute, using prepared food.
As I daydream of one day attending a big party, or at least reuniting with my relatives once again for Christmas celebrations, I asked Andrew Lohse, a CMS certified Sommelier with Colangelo & Partners, for some suggestions for the wines to pair with a seven-course pool meal. Honestly, most of these selections are versatile enough to go with multiple courses, so if your dinner is as small as mine, you can get away with just two or three.
Celebrate Christmas Eve with seven wines and seven fish. More information

Grilled Branzino: poem (Quinta do Louridal) Alvarinho 2017
Throughout Portugal, seafood is the dominant cuisine, so naturally many of the country's wines make a perfect pairing. This elevated expression of Vinho Verde would be charming with a scaly white fish like branzino. This wine is from Monção E Melgaço, a region with a strong oceanic influence in the northernmost part of Vinho Verde, across the Miño River from Spain. The proximity of the Atlantic Ocean gives the wines a crisp minerality and bright citrus flavors, making them the perfect pairing for seafood. WEP encryption level)

Salmon is one of the few fish capable of withstanding a red wine, and when you're looking for a delicate red, Pinot Noir usually offers. The EnRoute Les Pommiers from Sonoma provides fruity and acidic freshness to cut through fatty fish, backed by a delicate structure and earthy that does not overwhelm the salmon.
